I was hired at Code Ninjas as a Code-Sensei, teaching programming to kids age 7-14. I facilitated several week long summer camps. I'm now the lead sensei and have many new responsibilities such as sales, and management. It's my job to ensure that our dojo is running well at all times!
I began volunteering to help with the afterschool STEM Program at Cheney Middle School in December 2018. I was quickly recommended to apply at NDSU's 4-H Chapter, and was hired shortly thereafter.
Starting a game studio, a dream sought after by almost anyone who is both a gamer and a programmer. As of last year we are officially Archenemy Interactive LLC, and have begun creating XR experiences for clients. Our next goal is to release a full game on Steam. Check out what we've done at this site!
In late 2017 I was hired to create a Graphical User Interface for NDSU's AR Sandboxes. They also featured an amazing mode that simulated rainfall on topography.
D'Shannon Aviation was my first job, a bit of a longshot from a standard highschool job. I found myself reverse engineering airplane parts in SolidWorks CAD, and using my technological prowess to maintain the company's computer systems and website. I learned a lot at this job including essential skills for entrepreneurship, looking back I am very thankful for this position.
I grew up in Monticello, Minnesota. I studied at the Monticello High School and graduated in 2016
I began attending NDSU in fall of 2016 originally in the Business program, I changed to the Computer Science program in the following semester. I withdrew from NDSU in 2017 to pursue entrepreneurship and my self-directed studies but returned in spring of 2020
The first line of code I wrote was in middle school, it wasn't for a class, at the time my school didn't have a STEM Program. I began teaching myself to program and it quickly found its place within my life. I believe that the role of self-directed learning is becoming more important in today's age with the internet giving rise to many alternate forms of education, such as Udemy, Khan Academy and Duolingo.
